A legend in global hospitality, Horst Schulze is internationally recognized for establishing the modern benchmark of luxury service. His teachings and vision have reshaped how industries worldwide approach excellence, leadership, and the guest experience.

Mr. Schulze’s career began more than 65 years ago as a server’s assistant in a German resort town. He advanced through leadership roles at Hilton Hotels and Hyatt Hotels Corporation before becoming a founding member of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in 1983. There, he created the operating and service standards—centered on dignity, courtesy, and empowered employees—that became globally synonymous with five-star hospitality.

As President and COO of Ritz-Carlton, he led $2 billion in worldwide operations, guiding the company to become the first service organization to receive the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award—twice. His accolades include “Corporate Hotelier of the World” by HOTELS Magazine, the Ishikawa Medal for contributions to quality, and an Honorary Doctorate in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University. Later, as founder of The Capella Hotel Group, he further defined standards of ultra-luxury, earning international acclaim.

Today, Mr. Schulze serves on various boards and acts as a consultant across industries, and recently completed his seminal book, Excellence Wins, encapsulating his lifelong pursuit of service without compromise.

As Cultural Advisor to Peachtree Town & Country, he guides the firm’s commitment to service excellence and operational discipline.
